Geosite details
One of the Kent Country Parks, Trosley sits on the top of the Downs with incredible views across much of Kent, the Weald and the rest of the Downs. Trosley has great facilities for a family visit, with a play area, visitor centre and accessible nature trails, and it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which is home to rare Chalk grassland species including the Musk Orchid and Chalkhill Blue butterfly.
Trosley was originally farmed by Neolithic people over 5,000 years ago, around the same time that two nearby Geosites, Kit’s Coty and Coldrum Long Barrow, were created.
Coldrum Long Barrow is only a couple of miles walk away from Trosley so you can easily visit two Geosites in one day!
