Geosite details
Desvres earthenware is a good example of the trace that the geological history of a territory can leave on its local crafts. Indeed, during the Jurassic, in the Boulonnais, there is a large quantity of grey clay, which outcrops with sandstone, sand and limestone. These clays were extracted and exploited for earthenware, of course, but also for bricks, tiles and pottery.
