Geosite details
Lullingstone Country Park is the main public access point for the River Darent Geosite and provides an excellent starting point for exploring the chalk stream and wider Darent Valley landscape.
The park is internationally important for its collection of ancient trees, with over 300 veteran oak, beech, ash, hornbeam and sweet chestnut trees, some thought to be around 800 years old. The park also contains areas of chalk grassland, which support a rich variety of wildlife and spectacular displays of orchids and other wildflowers in spring and summer.
Visitors can explore the Darent Valley Path, enjoy riverside walks and discover the area’s natural and cultural heritage, including nearby attractions such as Lullingstone Roman Villa and Lullingstone Castle. The park also offers facilities including a visitor centre, café, toilets, accessible routes and walking trails.
