Accessibility
Dover Castle is committed to ensuring all visitors to our event enjoy a safe and welcoming experience.
Wheelchair Access: The Visitor Centre, ramparts, and most main castle areas are wheelchair accessible. Some historic areas, including the upper floors of the Great Tower (the Keep), are not fully accessible due to stairs.
Assistance and Mobility: Our friendly staff will be available to provide support during the event. Mobility scooters are welcome in accessible areas, and guidance is available to help plan your visit. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be booked in advance by emailing Dover.Castle@English-Heritage.org.uk.
Facilities: Accessible toilets, changing facilities, and seating will be available throughout the castle grounds for the duration of the event. Dog bowls are provided outside key locations, including the Visitor Admission Building and café areas.
Parking: Accessible parking spaces are provided close to the Visitor Centre. Blue Badge holders should display their badge where required. On busy or event days, parking may be directed to alternative areas on site.
Adapted Experiences: For areas with limited physical access, such as the Underground Hospital or the Spur Tunnels, adapted tours, virtual displays, and alternative experiences will be offered to ensure everyone can enjoy the event. Please note that some tunnels and upper floors include stairs, steep slopes, and uneven surfaces.
