Join us for Walking Week 2026 and discover some of the best coast and countryside in east Kent.

Across eight days, enjoy guided walks exploring the Kent Downs and surrounding landscapes, including sections of the King Charles III England Coast Path, historic sites, villages, valleys and the new Royal Kentish Camino pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Folkestone.

The week forms part of the wider White Cliffs Walking Festival, with walks led by White Cliffs Ramblers alongside additional guided walks from local organisations and walk leaders.

There are walks to suit different abilities, from leisurely routes to more challenging walks with hills, steep climbs and rougher terrain. Some walks also include stops at local pubs, cafés, ice cream parlours or places of interest.

Some walks require booking in advance and are marked with an asterisk (*). Please check the individual walk details before attending.

Ancient Landscapes & Natural History – Walmer*Saturday 3 October, 10.40am | Explore Walmer and its surrounding landscape while discovering more about the area's natural history and ancient landscapes.
Waves, Caves, Graves, Sushi – Dover*Saturday 3 October, 2pm | A themed walk exploring Dover's coastal landscape, with a mix of history, natural features and local stories.
Samphire Hoe Explorer*Sunday 4 October, 10am | Discover the unique landscape of Samphire Hoe, with its coastal scenery, wildlife and views across the Channel.
Herne Bay to Whitstable along the King Charles III England Coast PathSunday 4 October, 11am | Follow the coast from Herne Bay to Whitstable via Tankerton, with the option to return by foot or public transport.
Kearsney AbbeyMonday 5 October, 10am | A circular countryside walk through Temple Ewell, the Watersend Valley, Lords Wood and Ewell Minnis, returning via Bushy Ruff Lake.
